The RM01199 is a brand new aftermarket stator for the Polaris 300 range built between 1994 and 1999, covering the Trail Boss 300, the Xplorer 300 and the Xpress 300. It is a direct replacement for the original charging coil and cross references to Polaris part number 3084814.
Fitting is plug-and-play and direct, using the standard mounting points and the original connectors, so no cutting, drilling or splicing of the loom is required. How do I know my old stator has failed?
Measure the wire-to-wire resistance with a multimeter and compare against the table above. The alternator winding should read about 0.4 ohms from Yellow to Yellow/Red and the source coil about 125 ohms from Black/Red to Brown/White, each within 20 percent. Also check each output wire to ground, which should show no continuity. An open circuit, a short to ground, a flat battery or a weak spark all point to a failed stator.
Does the back plate need to be transferred from my old unit?
No. The back plate is supplied with the RM01199, along with the connector and the rubber grommet, so the assembly can be fitted complete rather than reusing parts from a stator that has already overheated.
