This is a brand new stator for the Polaris 400 and 440 XCR, 500 XC SP and 600 and 700 RMK and SKS built between 1996 and 2001. It is a direct replacement for the original unit - plug-and-play, direct fit and straightforward to install, mounting in the original position and connecting to the existing loom with no cutting or rewiring.
The stator is built on the highest grade lamination materials and wound with copper windings resistant to 200 degrees Celsius, which is the property an original unit loses after years of heat cycling behind the flywheel. The pickup pulsar coil, the connector and the back plate are all included, so this is a complete assembly rather than a bare plate. The unit measures 96 mm on the exterior diameter with a 44 mm interior diameter and a 15 mm thickness, and carries eight wires into four plugs across ten pins, on lead lengths of 190 mm and 740 mm from the stator to the plug and 400 mm from the pickup coil to the plug.

How do I tell whether my old stator has failed?
Typical symptoms are a battery that will not hold its charge, dim or flickering lights, a weak or missing spark and an engine that cuts out. Confirm with a meter against the specification table: the alternator winding reads approximately 0.4 ohms +/-20% from Yellow to Brown, the pickup approximately 180 ohms +/-20% from Red to Blue and the source approximately 6 ohms +/-20% from White to Green.
Does this replace the pickup coil as well?
Yes. The pickup pulsar coil is supplied as part of this assembly, so a failed pickup is replaced at the same time as the stator windings rather than being carried over from the old unit.
