The stator generates the AC current that charges the battery and feeds the electrical system. When it fails you get a flat battery, weak spark, or charging that only works at high revs.

Frequently Asked Questions
How do I test a stator?
With the engine off, measure resistance between each pair of the three white wires - this stator reads about 0.4 Ω (±20%). Then check each wire to earth: there should be no continuity. With the engine running, measure AC output between the wires and compare with your service manual. An open or shorted winding, or continuity to earth, means the stator has failed.
Does this include the pickup or trigger coil?
This is a 3-wire, 3-terminal charging stator. Check the images and the specification table against your original part, and ask us if you are unsure.
Will a failed regulator damage a new stator?
Yes - a shorted regulator/rectifier can overload the windings. Test the regulator before fitting a new stator, or you may lose the new part the same way.
Is this a genuine part?
