Stator for Sea-Doo 580 GT, SP & XP
580 GT, 580 SP and 580 XP, 1989 to 1991 - Part number RM01381
This is a brand new stator built as a direct replacement for the original unit fitted to the Sea-Doo 580 GT, 580 SP and 580 XP between 1989 and 1991. It is a plug-and-play, direct fit part that uses the factory mounting pattern and the original six-pin connector, so no cutting, splicing or modification of the loom is required to put the craft back in the water.
The unit carries six wires on a single plug and combines three circuits on one plate: the alternator winding that charges the battery, and two separate source coils that feed the ignition. That is why a single stator fault on these early 580 hulls can look like several different problems at once - a battery that goes flat, an engine that cranks without firing, or a machine that runs but dies under load. The three resistance figures in the table below let you separate those circuits with a multimeter before you strip anything. The stator is built on the highest grade lamination materials and wound with the highest grade copper, insulated to resist 200 degrees Celsius. The connector and the back plate are both included, and every unit shipped is tested first.

Frequently Asked Questions
Does fitting this need any modification?
No. It is a plug-and-play, direct fit replacement that uses the original six-pin connector and the factory mounting pattern. Nothing on the loom needs to be cut or spliced.
What is included in the box?
The stator, the connector and the back plate. Every unit is tested before it is shipped.
How do I confirm my old stator has failed?
Unplug the six-pin connector and take three readings. Yellow to yellow is the alternator winding at about 0.9 ohms. Black/Red to White/Red is the first source coil at about 4 ohms. Black to Black/Red is the second source coil at about 140 ohms. All figures are plus or minus 20 per cent. An open circuit, a short to the engine case, or a reading well outside any of those means the stator has failed.
Why does this stator have two separate source coils?
The 580 ignition uses a low resistance source circuit at about 4 ohms and a high resistance one at about 140 ohms, wound on the same plate. Both feed the ignition system, so either one failing can stop the engine firing even though the charging side still tests correctly.
