This is a brand new aftermarket stator supplied as a direct replacement for the original unit fitted to the 1992 to 1994 Sea-Doo GTS, GTX, SP, SPI, XP, XPI and SPX personal watercraft with the 580, 650 and 720 engines. It is a plug-and-play part: it mounts in the original position and its four-pin plug mates with the existing loom, so the harness does not have to be cut, spliced or re-pinned.
The stator is built on the highest grade of lamination material and wound with the highest grade of copper winding, rated to resist 200 degrees Celsius. That rating is what keeps a stator alive in a hot, enclosed watercraft engine bay, where the original units commonly fail after years of heat cycling. The connector and the back plate are supplied with the unit, and every stator is tested before it is shipped.

How do I check whether my old stator has failed?
Use a multimeter and compare the readings against the specification table above. The alternator winding should read about 0.4 ohms between the yellow and yellow/black wires and the source winding about 60 ohms between black and black/red, both within 20 per cent. A reading of zero, an open circuit, or continuity between a winding and the stator plate all indicate a failed unit.
One stator covers 580, 650 and 720 engines - is that right?
