This is a brand new aftermarket stator built as a direct replacement for the original unit fitted to Ski-Doo Expedition, Grand Touring, MXZ, Skandic and Summit snowmobiles built between 1998 and 2013, and to Lynx 6900, Enduro and Ranger models from 2001 to 2009. It is a plug-and-play, direct fit part, so the original mounting points, wiring route and connectors are all retained and no modification is required.
The stator is the part of the charging system that generates the alternating current the regulator rectifier converts into the DC that charges the battery and feeds the lights, gauges and electric start. This unit is wound with the highest grade copper on the highest grade laminations and is rated to withstand 200 degrees Celsius, so it copes with the heat soak that eventually kills a tired original. It is supplied with the connector and the back plate, and every unit is tested before it is shipped.

How do I tell whether my old stator has failed?
The usual symptoms are a battery that will not hold charge, dimming lights at higher revs or a no-start condition. Measure the windings with a multimeter: between each yellow wire you should read 0.4 ohms plus or minus 20 percent, and red to black should read 8 ohms plus or minus 20 percent. Readings well outside those figures, or continuity to the stator body, mean the unit has failed.
Will it handle the heat of a hard-worked sled?
The windings use the highest grade copper and are rated to 200 degrees Celsius, and the core uses the highest grade lamination material. Heat is the most common cause of stator failure, so the temperature rating is the specification that matters most on a machine that works hard.
