Stator for Yamaha Wave Blaster, Wave Runner & SJ
Wave Blaster, Raider, Venture 700, SJ 650 and 700, Wave Runner 650 and 700, 1990 to 2020 - Part number RM01371
This is a brand new aftermarket stator built as a direct replacement for the original unit fitted to the Yamaha Wave Blaster, Raider, Venture 700, SJ 650 and 700, and Wave Runner 650 and 700 across a long production run from 1990 to 2020. It is a plug-and-play, direct fit part, so the factory mounting pattern and the original wiring route are used exactly as they were and no modification of the loom is needed.
This is a complete assembly rather than a bare charging coil. It carries five wires across five plugs and combines three circuits on one plate: the alternator windings that keep the battery charged, the ignition source coil that supplies the CDI, and the pick-up pulsar coil that sets the ignition timing. The pick-up pulsar coil is supplied already fitted, which saves splitting the assembly later if the timing circuit is the actual fault. Note the 900 mm lead from grommet to plug - the long run is standard on these hulls, where the electrical box sits well away from the engine. The stator is built on the highest grade lamination materials and wound with the highest grade copper, insulated to resist 200 degrees Celsius. The connector, the rubber grommet and the back plate are all included.

Frequently Asked Questions
Does this need any modification to fit?
No. It is a plug-and-play, direct fit replacement using the original connectors and the factory mounting pattern, so no cutting or splicing of the loom is required.
What is included in the box?
The stator with the pick-up pulsar coil already fitted, the connector, the rubber grommet and the back plate.
How do I check whether my old stator has failed?
With the plugs disconnected, measure green to green for the alternator windings, which should read about 0.4 ohms; red to white for the pick-up coil, about 20 ohms; and brown to black for the source coil, about 394 ohms. All figures are plus or minus 20 per cent. An open circuit or a short to the engine case on any of those circuits means the unit has failed.
The craft turns over but will not start. Could this be the cause?
It can be. The source coil and the pick-up pulsar coil on this stator both feed the ignition, so a failure in either leaves the engine cranking with no spark even though the battery and starter are fine. Measuring the brown to black and red to white circuits will confirm it.
