How do I confirm the old stator has failed?
A failing stator normally shows up as a flat or under-charged battery, dim or flickering lights, weak or intermittent spark, and no rise in charging voltage as the engine is revved. Measure the windings cold with a multimeter and compare against the table above: the alternator windings should read 0.4 ohms +/-20% between each White wire, the pickup 450 ohms +/-20% from Green to Blue, and the source coil 0.6 ohms +/-20% from Red to Blue/White. An open circuit, a dead short, or continuity from any winding to the stator body means the unit is finished.
How long are the leads?
The harness runs 380 mm from the stator to the grommet and a further 410 mm from the grommet to the plug, and the pick-up coil lead is 250 mm to the grommet. These match the original Yamaha routing, so the loom sits in the standard clips and the plugs reach their original positions.
