This is a brand new generator stator built as a direct replacement for the original charging unit fitted to the Yamaha YZF R1 in the 2002 and 2003 model years. It is a plug-and-play, direct fit part that uses the factory mounting pattern and the original three-pin connector, so the loom does not need to be cut, spliced or modified in any way.
The stator is built on the highest grade lamination materials and wound with the highest grade copper, with insulation rated to resist 200 degrees Celsius. How do I tell whether the stator or the regulator rectifier has failed?
Unplug the three-pin connector and measure between each pair of white wires. All three pairs should read about 0.4 ohms, plus or minus 20 per cent, with no continuity to the engine case. If those readings are good but the battery still will not charge, the fault is downstream in the regulator rectifier or its wiring rather than in the stator.
My original carries part number 5PW-81410-01-00. Is this still the right unit?
