This is a brand new aftermarket throttle position sensor (TPS), supplied as a direct replacement for the original unit. It is plug-and-play and a direct fit, mounting on the standard 55 mm hole centres and connecting to the original single three-terminal plug, so no modification to the throttle body or the loom is required. The throttle position sensor tells the ECU exactly how far the throttle has been opened, and the fuelling and ignition maps are built around that signal. When the sensor wears or its track becomes dirty, the signal begins to drop out at certain throttle openings, and the result is hesitation off idle, surging at part throttle, an erratic idle, poor starting or a fault light on the cluster. Because the sensor sits on the throttle body where it is exposed to heat, vibration and water, it is a normal wear item.
