How do I know my old stator has failed?
Watch for a battery that goes flat repeatedly, dim headlights at idle, a charge warning, or the engine stopping and not restarting. With a multimeter, measure between each pair of the three black wires: readings should be about 0.5 ohms +/- 20%. Any open circuit, any continuity to the engine case, or resistance well outside that band means the stator has failed.
