This is a brand new universal 12 volt starter relay solenoid kit from RMSTATOR, part number RM09018. Rather than being cut for one machine, it is supplied with a set of alternative connectors so that the same relay can be wired into a wide range of ATV, UTV, motorcycle and watercraft starting circuits. That makes it a practical answer when the original solenoid is no longer available, when the original part number cannot be identified, or when a machine has been rewired and the factory plug no longer exists.
The starter relay solenoid is the heavy duty switch that sits between the battery and the starter motor. The start button carries only a small current to the relay coil; the relay then closes a much larger set of contacts to feed the starter motor directly from the battery. When the contacts burn or the coil fails you get the classic symptoms - a single loud click and no crank, an intermittent start, or a machine that cranks only when the solenoid is tapped.
