This is a brand new aftermarket water temperature sensor, supplied as a direct replacement to your original unit. It is a two-terminal thermistor that screws into the cooling system and tells the ECU how hot the coolant actually is. That single reading drives a lot of what the machine does: cold-start enrichment, fuelling and ignition timing as the engine warms, the cooling fan or overheat strategy, and the temperature warning on the dash. Get a bad signal from this sensor and the engine will run poorly even when nothing else is wrong with it.
The sensor is calibrated to the factory resistance curve - 11.8k to 13.4k ohms at -30°C at the cold end, falling to 100-125 ohms at 120°C when hot - so the ECU sees exactly the signal it expects across the whole operating range. It has an 11.85 mm thread diameter with 8 mm of thread length and a 19 mm nut, matching the standard port, and the overall body is 60 mm long by 19 mm wide by 19 mm high. Installation is plug-and-play and direct fit. The quality exceeds the OEM equipment, and all products shipped are tested.

Will this fit without modification?
Yes. It is plug-and-play and direct fit. The 11.85 mm thread diameter, 8 mm thread length and 19 mm nut match the standard port, so it screws straight into the factory location and takes the standard two-terminal connector. No adapters or rewiring are needed.
What is included?
You receive the water temperature sensor itself. Reuse the existing sealing washer or O-ring and the loom connector from your machine, and have some coolant to hand to top up after fitting, as a little will be lost when the old sensor comes out.
How do I know the old sensor has failed?
Common signs are a temperature gauge that reads wildly high, sits at cold permanently or jumps around, a cooling fan that never runs or runs constantly, hard starting, poor running and rough idle while warming up, and stored fault codes against the coolant temperature circuit. You can check it with a multimeter: a healthy sensor should read in the region of 11.8k to 13.4k ohms when very cold and drop to around 100-125 ohms at 120°C. An open circuit or a reading that will not change with temperature confirms the fault.
Does one sensor cover this many machines?
It does. The BRP brands - Can-Am, Ski-Doo and Sea-Doo - share this sensor pattern across a wide range of engine sizes, and Polaris uses a compatible unit on its 570-1000 machines, which is why the cross reference carries both the BRP numbers and Polaris 4010644.
