A brand new generator stator for the Yamaha TMAX 500, supplied complete with the pick-up pulsar coil so the whole assembly can be changed in one operation. It is a direct replacement for the original unit - plug-and-play, direct fit, and it works with all other OEM components on the bike.
This stator produces 20 percent more output over stock, which helps on a scooter carrying heated grips, auxiliary lighting or a topbox loom. Highest grade lamination materials and highest grade copper windings resistant to 200 degrees Celsius are used throughout, and the connectors and rubber grommet are supplied fitted. Will this stator fit without modification?
Yes. It is a direct fit for the TMAX 500 built between 2001 and 2011, uses the original two plugs and the factory grommet route, and works with all other OEM components including the standard regulator rectifier.
What is included?
The generator stator, the pick-up pulsar coil, the connectors and the rubber grommet. The crankcase cover gasket and fixings are not included.
How do I tell whether my old stator has failed?
Unplug both connectors and measure. The alternator windings should read about 0.4 ohms between phases and the pick-up pulsar coil about 563 ohms, each within plus or minus 20 percent. Any winding that reads open circuit, or that shows continuity to the stator core, has failed. A battery that keeps going flat while the regulator tests good usually points at the stator.
What does 20% more output over stock mean in practice?
The windings are specified to deliver more charging current than the factory unit at the same engine speed, which gives more headroom for accessories and for long periods of low-speed running. It does not require a different regulator rectifier - the standard OEM unit is retained.
